Born and raised in Queens, New York, Francisco Ordoñez graduated with a B.A. in Sociology from Queens College (CUNY). 

Afterward Francisco went on to earn an M.F.A. in Directing from The Columbia University School of the Arts in New York, where he was honored as a Film Division Fellow.

Franciscoʼs Thesis Film, “st. paul”, has been awarded Best Short at the HBO New York Latino Film Festival, the IFP Audience Award, The Committee award at the Miami Short Film Festival, and Best Short at the 24th Annual Imagen Awards.

Franciscoʼs 2nd short film, “Cookie,” premiered at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival.  To date, it has received Honorable Mention at HollyShorts, and was a Finalist in the NBC Universal Shortcuts Film Festival.

Francisco has directed commercials and industrials for ad agencies such as Cline Davis and Mann (CDMi), Euro RSCG and Brand Addict for clients such as Genentech, Match.com, Amgen, Human Genome Sciences, and Glaxo Smith Kline.

On the feature film front, Francisco has signed actors, Danny Glover (LETHAL WEAPON, THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS, 2012) and Mekhi Phifer (from TV series TORCHWOOD, E.R., LIE TO ME) to his feature film, ASHER.

The script for ASHER was a Finalist in the Tribeca Film Festival All Access Program. ASHER is slated to go into production in Spring 2013.

Francisco has also been hired to direct, BLOOD OF THE MARTYR, written and produced by Franc Reyes, via Reyes’ production company, Alumbra Films. Francisco is also attached to direct the hip-hop drama 16 BARS from Producer Danny Rodriguez, with stars Danny Trejo (MACHETE, SONS OF ANARCHY, HEAT). and Esai Morales (GUN HILL ROAD, CAPRICA, LA BAMBA).
